Many Narrabri cricketers will be preparing for a busy weekend following an early-season break due to washouts last Saturday and Sunday.
Today, junior and senior cricketers will play their second games of the season in the third round of the respective 2020-21 club campaigns.
Five of the town’s six representative teams will then line up for their first games of the season tomorrow.
The Narrabri District Cricket Association’s two MA Connolly Cup teams will be in action at home when the Northern Inland Cricket Council’s premier senior competition for the 2020-21 season begins.
In their respective round one games, Narrabri Blue will challenge Peel Valley at Hogan Oval, and Narrabri Gold will meet Tamworth at Collins Park.
Several keys players will be missing for Narrabri’s two teams.
Narrabri Blue captain Nick Smart has been ruled out of round one with a shoulder injury, while Narrabri Gold duo Lachlan Cameron and Dylan Smith will miss their side’s game due to Northern Inland Bolters commitments.
Narrabri Blue’s two youngest players, Sid Harvey and Bernard O’Connor, will miss their side’s game due to junior representative duties. When a junior and senior match are scheduled at the same time, junior players must play at the lower level.
One Narrabri District Junior Cricket Association representative team will be in action on home soil tomorrow. That is the under-13s which is scheduled to take on Gunnedah at Leitch Oval in its round two match.
Two Narrabri teams will be in action in Gunnedah.
The under-11s side will play its round two match against Gunnedah at Donnelly Field, and the under-15s team will play against Upper Hunter at Wolseley Oval in Gunnedah.
The Namoi under-17s team was scheduled to play its second game of the season away from home, however the combined Narrabri and Gunnedah side forfeited that match.
