The Narrabri District Junior Cricket Association’s three representative teams which played on Sunday all scored round two victories in their first games of the season following opening round washouts
The under-13s side was victorious on home soil after downing Gunnedah at Leitch Oval. Gunnedah batted first and made 84 before losing its final wicket. The chasing Narrabri side lost five wickets before reaching the required total in the 32nd over to win the match by five wickets.
The other two NDJCA sides played away games in Gunnedah.
The under-15s team took on Upper Hunter and outplayed its opponents to win by seven wickets. Upper Hunter batted first and made 78 runs from 38.3 overs. Narrabri then chased that down for the loss of the three wickets, hitting the winning runs in the 32nd over of its innings.
The NDJCA under-11s challenged hosts Gunnedah in their round one match. The 10-player Narrabri side batted first in that match and scored 157 runs in 30 overs for the loss of seven wickets. It then knocked Gunnedah for 79 runs in 27.5 overs to secure a 78-run victory.
Narrabri’s rep teams now turn their attention to round three matches.
The under-13s will take on Tamworth away from home this Sunday, the under-15s will host Gunnedah at Collins Park this Sunday, and the under-11s will play away from home against Armidale on Sunday, November 15.
The combined Narrabri and Gunnedah Namoi team forfeited its round three game on Sunday and will take on Coalfields in Gunnedah in round four this Sunday.
