Local community radio station 2MaxFM 91.3 celebrated its 20th birthday on Wednesday last week.

The station’s committee members and guests, including Member for Parkes Mark Coulton, gathered to honour the milestone amid COVID restrictions.

Plenty of old photos, footage, equipment and memorabilia was on show to reflect the station’s history.

2MaxFM 91.3 has provided members an opportunity to have their own radio program, entertaining listeners for the past two decades.

Run solely by volunteers, the station currently has 32 on air-announcers, who give their time along with 98 members.

A brand new studio has also been built recently with funding from the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal.

Plans to upgrade the foyer area in the front are also set to go ahead in the near future, which was granted by the Narrabri Shire Council.

Mr Coulton was on hand to cut the cake with vice-president Jeff Cloak and councillor Cathy Redding.

The station plans to have an open day in 2021, tying into their 21st birthday plans but couldn’t go ahead with their annual charity day this year due to COVID restrictions.

Max Pringle OAM also wrote a poem dedicated to the occasion.
