Narrabri Shire Council has recently secured $152,000 in funding under the NSW government Stronger Country Community Fund – round two to complete a sports precinct in Pilliga.
The project includes a synthetic tennis court and cricket practice nets and a covered seating area.
“The council has completed this project in a tight timeframe,” a spokesman said.
“This will allow the area to be enjoyed by all this coming summer.
Mayor Ron Campbell said he was pleased to see Pilliga receive the funding to build the facilities.
“The sports precinct will provide the community with a place to gather and participate in school, community, and sporting activities.”
“Amenities like these help build morale and allows residents to come together, interact, and check-in with each other in a relaxed situation, which is important given the last few years we have all seen.”
