The first century of the 2020-21 Narrabri District Cricket Association first grade one day season was scored by Lachlan Cameron on Saturday afternoon at Hogan Oval.

In a 54-run win against RSL, Civeo’s co-captain Cameron entered the middle in the eighth over and scored 101 runs before being caught on the boundary in the Mick Dowdell-bowled 43rd over.

Cameron’s captain’s knock on Saturday assisted Civeo in totalling the biggest score of the season.

In the round six match, Civeo finished on 9-221 after 45 overs. RSL (8-167) only lost eight wickets, but batted too slowly and fell 55 runs short of victory after the final ball had been bowled.

Cameron smashed five sixes and four fours in his innings, which was his last before the McDonalds Country Championships carnival at which Cameron will compete for Central North zone from Friday at the Central Coast.

Cameron’s Civeo teammate and Narrabri Gold captain Chris Sargent told The Courier that Cameron, who scored 76 runs just six days earlier in Narrabri Gold’s first representative match of the season, would make Narrabri proud at the Country Champs carnival.

“He was a class above today and last Sunday as well,” Sargent said on Saturday after Civeo’s win.

“He’s in really good form with the bat and I think he’ll go down to the Central Coast full of confidence and score a lot of runs for Central North.

“He’ll definitely do Narrabri proud.”

Cameron is now the competition’s leading run scorer with 152 after six rounds. He has scored those runs in four innings.

He has also taken five wickets this season, which is his team’s second largest total to Jade Lees who is the competition’s top wicket taker with 11.

Civeo went into round six just one win behind competition leaders RSL. The victory saw Civeo finish level on points (27) with RSL and fellow round six winning team Western Razorbacks at the top of the table.

The Razorbacks defeated Tatts by 77 runs at Collins Park.
