Free books – everything must go

Narrabri Rotary Club has smashed all records in its 2020 secondhand book sale.

The sale has yielded $24,000 in funds raised which will go back into Rotary community projects.

“We have had such a fantastic response that we have decided to give all the remaining books away free from tomorrow, and on Saturday morning,” said book sale co-ordinator Bruce Pyke.

“People can take as many books as they like at no charge.

“If they want to leave a donation that’s fine, but the books are free.”

The big book giveaway will close on Saturday at noon and marks the end of the 2020 sale.

“This is undoubtedly the best book sale Rotary has held,” said Mr Pyke.

“Book buyers have had thousands of titles from which to choose ranging from Zen to zoology, aardvark husbandry to astronomy, crystallography to cryogenics.

But there are still thousands of great titles to go, novels, non-fiction, fantasy and romance, coffee table books, recipe books, and people are welcome to take them.”

On Friday and Saturday, Rotarians will be staffing the book sale venue, the former Ireland’s then Narrabri Pharmacy and Caballo Country premises, ready to direct customers to the best bargains.

“They are all bargains,” said Mr Pyke. “They are all free.”
