Narrabri Touch Inc’s men’s teams split into grades following round nine matches

The ninth round of the 2020-21 Narrabri Touch Inc summer season was contested at the Cooma Oval fields on Monday evening as players lined up for their last games of the calendar year.

In the men’s competition, three teams won by a 7-2 scoreline. They were Platform X Studio, Win Or Booze and Grumley Builders which beat Ballbusters, Stylies and Cougars respectively.

One other men’s match was decided by five tries after Damien Chiplin Plumbing downed DTA Lumberjacks 6-1, while the other game was won by Gee Bangers which outscored Mowley’s Maniacs 8-0.

Those matches were the last before the men’s sides were split into their grades.

The 10 teams all played each other once, with the exception of round seven opponents after those matches were cancelled due to extreme heat.

After eight matches, the undefeated Grumley Builders topped the table with eight wins and no losses, Gee Bangers placed second with seven wins and a loss, Platform X Studio finished third with six wins and two losses, Win Or Booze was ranked fourth with five wins and three losses, then Damien Chiplin Plumbing finished fifth with three wins and five losses.

Those five teams will all compete for the A-grade championship next year when the season resumes.

Sixth and seventh-placed Ballbusters and DTA Lumberjacks also won three games and lost five, but their for and against differences ranked them below DCP.

Eighth and ninth-placed Cougars and Stylies both won two games and lost six, while Mowley’s Maniacs finished last following one win and seven losses.

Those five teams will now play for the B-grade title.

Meanwhile, the 12 ladies’ teams will play two more rounds when the season restarts next year before they are split up into three four-team grades.

In round nine on Monday, first-placed Agies Ladies stretched its undefeated streak to 35 games after winning its eighth straight game of the current season. In a 10-1 win against Blue Birds, Agies Ladies scored its 100th try and eventually finished the round on 105 tries.

Another ladies’ side continued its 2020-21 season undefeated run while breaking another’s. That was Specialised Civil Services, which defeated Xtra 5-1. Both of those sides entered round nine having won all seven of their previous matches.

In the other ladies’ games, Redbacks outscored OneDay Gals 8-0, Phoenix Two390 edged out Hounddogs 3-2, RSL Roulettes beat The Rippers 6-2, and BPR-Tourist downed The Emasculators 6-3.
