Two Wee Waa-owned-and-trained greyhounds raced to victory at a Gunnedah Greyhound Racing Club TAB meeting last Thursday.

Geoffrey Whitton’s Boom Up took out race five before Colin Anderson’s Chance Amelia won race eight.

Race five was the 340-metre Ladbrokes Switch grade five race, which Boom Up won against the odds.

The three-year-old brindle dog started from box six as a $19 outsider, but quickly established himself as one of the frontrunners.

The Gary Wilton-trained Pan Edition (box five) established an early lead, but Boom Up got the inside run for the turn into the home straight which helped him get in front.

The Wee Waa greyhound charged home quickest to win the race by less than a length from the Glenda Bush-trained second-placed finisher Pina Colada (box three) and third-placed Pan Edition.

Boom Up earned $1500 in prizemoney for that victory which took his career earnings to $5780 following four wins, two second-placed finishes and four third-placed finishes from 31 starts.

It was his second win in four starts for Whitton to go with a second-placed finish.

Whitton had another greyhound in action in that race which was three-year-old red fawn bitch Miss Confused. She jumped from box eight and ran home sixth.

Race eight was the 431-metre Ladbrokes Same Race Multi grade five race, in which Chance Amelia was one of the favourites to win.

She started from box four and secured the victory in style, jumping best before leading comfortably from start to finish on her way to an almost five-length win.

The four-year-old blue bitch has now won 12 times in 47 starts for her Wee Waa owner/trainer to go with 13 second-placed finishes and seven third-placed finishes.

She is in superb form, only missing out on a top-three finish twice in her past 16 starts. She has won four of those races, including Thursday’s victory which saw her earn the $1500 top prize to take her career earnings to $20,800.
