Real estate agency Narrabri Real Estate has changed hands in a deal recently brokered between Stuart and Brooke Southwell, and Ben Hennessy of Hennessy Real Estate.

The business will soon be re-branded in the Hennessy colours and continue to operate from the same location in Maitland Street, Narrabri.

“It’s effectively a ‘same team – new jersey’ scenario with our current staff continuing to manage the portfolio of properties we have built up over the years”, commented Stuart Southwell.

“The reaction from our clients has been amazing. Everyone has wished us well on our new journey while being excited about the new ownership.”

Hennessy Real Estate has been in operation for eight years and holds a strong position in the Gunnedah market. With a team of 11 staff, the acquisition of a Narrabri office is a chance to increase their presence in the Narrabri market.

“We have been managing a small portfolio of properties in Narrabri for several years now which has worked quite well.

With Narrabri on the cusp of a major growth period and following a return to better seasons, we saw this as a prime opportunity to serve more clients in a neighbouring market,” commented Ben Hennessy, principal of Hennessy Real Estate.

The Hennessy family first moved into the Gunnedah district back in 1955, being previously from Wellington.

Growing up on the family farm, Ben finished his education in Sydney, before training and teaching as a high school maths teacher.

His real estate career commenced in Yamba in 2004 where he worked for three years with Yamba First National.

After a trip around the world including a stint in Budapest, Hungary, Ben returned to his hometown where he continued working in the industry that has been his passion for almost two decades now.

In 2013, the doors opened at Hennessy Real Estate for the first time, and from humble beginnings Ben is grateful to be celebrating eight years of serving the North-West region and believes deeply in having his clients’ best interests at heart.

“We are excited to bring our real estate services to the Narrabri region and are grateful to Stuart and Brooke for such a smooth transition with the sale” he said.

“We wish them well in their future and look forward to continuing to provide a high calibre of service in all things real estate.”

Stuart and Brooke have relocated to Tamworth with their three daughters Georgia, Jacqueline and Alexandra.

“There are several reasons behind the change but at the base of it all, we want to spend more time together as a family, especially while the girls are young” said Stuart.

“Running a business has been very rewarding but there is precious little time at the end of a 6-7 day week for the things that really matter.”

Stuart would like to thank staff members Crystal Gordon and Olivia Knox for their dedication and professionalism.

“Without great staff you’re on your own and the girls have been simply fantastic.

“But most of all our clients. If you have bought, sold, leased or rented through us – we owe it all to you. Thank you.”

Rob Southwell will continue to operate under his ‘Southwell Land and Water’ masthead, marketing rural property, selling water assets and conducting clearing sales.
