The massive mouse plague which is causing serious damage to crops throughout the west and north west shows no sign of abating.

Exact Aviation is one of the front line combatants battling the mice, dropping tonnes of Mouse Off poisoned grain across paddocks for farmers across Coonamble, Walgett, Burren, Merah North, Bellata, Coonabarabran and Narrabri areas – and further afield.

The aerial operations have been underway since winter when the plague began.

The aircraft carry 1400kg of Mouse Off, enough to cover 1400ha.

So far about 100,000 hectares have been covered said Exact Aviation’s Angus Ashby.

“The mice just keep coming,” he said.

The battle against the mice can be expensive.

Some properties have been baited two or three times to control the destructive rodents.
