Remember the world-famous band Daft Punk? Well, they have split up after 22 years. Daft Punk were a French musical duo, Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, They entered the consciousness of the Narrabri Shire community when it was revealed they would release their new, internationally anticipated, album of electronic music, ‘Random Access Memories’, at Wee Waa Showground in 2013. The Showground was transformed into a massive set. It was a huge event for everyone involved. More than 4000 tickets were sold as soon as they went on sale through The Crossing Theatre. The two musicians were always hidden behind ‘robot’ masks’ so no one knew what they looked like. To this day people are convinced the duo were at the showground, incognito (but apparently it was later revealed they were in Paris). The population of Wee Waa tripled for the event as visitors streamed in from around Australia. It was fantastic publicity for Wee Waa and the shire.
