The Delta Ag Agribusiness Expo on Wednesday last week was a welcome return to ‘normal’ for a large attendance of agricultural industry representatives and producers.

Narrabri Shire and the wider region were well represented.

The COVID-19 health protocols were observed as farmers and producers from across the spectrum of the industry caught up with the latest in technology, topical issues and information through displays, talks and demonstrations from 40 exhibitors.

The drought and COVID years have curtailed public gatherings but normalcy is returning as restrictions are eased and the ag expo was not only an industry day but an opportunity for the farming community from the wider region to get together.

Delta Ag was represented by personnel from across the company’s network.

“The day was a great success for all who attended,” commented Narrabri and Burren Junction branch manager Pat Lash.

“With around 150-200 people on site over the course of the day it was a huge opportunity for farmers to talk directly with suppliers and pick the eyes out of their offers.

“We worked hard to try and provide access to companies that aren’t always available on-farm but are nonetheless crucial to the production and supply chain.

“We ended up with exhibitors from six seed companies, five fertiliser suppliers, six from agricultural chemical companies and five fencing suppliers.

“The fertiliser companies, especially with the current pricing and supply pressures, were well-attended and Yara Fertilisers presented for half an hour on different strategies addressing the challenges of the coming season.

“The barbecue was a huge hit and while we initially thought we’d over catered, we ended up doing a mad-dash in to town for seconds.

“The suppliers we used in town for printing, advertising and catering were all great and reaffirmed an ongoing drive we’ve had as a business to support local businesses.

“When we settled the account with Meat on Maitland the owner commented that we’d brought quite a few people in to town who ended up in his store on the way home.

“Overall the day was great for us with some incredible local interest in new products which will see us diversify our range in an ongoing capacity,” said Mr Lash.

“Fingers crossed the enthusiasm for the event sustains through the coming season.”
