Whatever it takes to get rid of the European carp from our creeks and rivers! The Department of Agriculture is looking at new rules to allow ‘bowfishing’ for carp. Bowfishing literally means using a bow and arrow to shoot carp. An 18 month trial of bowfishing for the feral fish in 2016 and 2017 evidently saw 200 bowfishers take more than 700 carp from inland waterways in NSW. Apparently bowfishing comes under the regulations which govern spearfishing.
