Narrabri Bowling Club members hope the proposed sale of the Club Motor Inn will smooth the path for continuation of bowls in Narrabri.

Narrabri Bowling club is currently in voluntary administration.

The administrators, Hayes Advisory, have announced that the Club Motor Inn is to be sold. Specialist hospitality brokers Manenti Quinlan and Associates are agents for the sale by way of Expression of Interest. (See advertisement page 7).

There is a DA in progress for subdivision from the bowling club.

“We hope that the sale of the motel, will provide enough money to clear the club’s debt and even leave a small surplus,” said Women’s Bowling Club president Nola McNamara.

“It is our hope that we will be able to move forward with retention of the clubhouse and one green to allow bowls into the future.

“The club will hold its annual general meeting in April and we are hoping that we will get an idea of what the path to the future is at that meeting.”

That pathway may become clearer very soon – interested buyers of the Club Motor Inn must have their bids in within a month’s time.

The Club Motor Inn offers an attractive proposition for a new owner, the vendor believes.

The motel occupies a prime position on the Newell Highway which is daily becoming a busier conduit for travellers.

The 30-suite Club Motor Inn is Narrabri’s newest motel, opened in 2008, the advertisement points out, and comes with a pool and is adjacent to the bowling club. The motel has been ‘a very profitable asset.’

The vendors emphasise that Narrabri is a ‘strong regional centre’, a vibrant agricultural and administrative hub which is set to benefit from the development of the Narrabri gas project and the Inland Rail and potentially a fertiliser plant.

The agents have advised that expressions of interest in the motel will be received until April 22.

Meanwhile, the women bowlers have held a fund raising Devonshire Tea which attracted a sell out attendance and saw the signing up of 30 new members.

“We will have another soon,” said Miss McNamara.

“The aim is to encourage people to get used to coming back to the club.

“And we want to encourage more men bowlers to come back as well.”
