The comments by Rebecca Pickering, ARTC director of planning communications and stakeholder relations (The Courier, April 22, 2021) give the impression that there is general agreement about the routing of the Inland Rail Project near Narrabri.

Undoubtedly, there is widespread community support for the project as a whole, however, it is not correct to suggest that the proposed routing of the track is supported by the majority. In fact, there have been several submissions from eminently qualified engineers, surveyors and flood plain management groups which strongly challenge the wisdom of the proposed route.

It would be of considerable benefit to the Narrabri community if ARTC not only consulted with the community but also heeded the advice of those who have both professional skills and local knowledge. Communication is, after all, a two way street.
