The multi-talented members of Narrabri Men’s Shed can turn their hands to just about any project.

The Men’s Shed has many projects on the go at any time from furniture restoration to, in recent times, traps to eliminate the feral Indian Mynah birds and now to manufacturing laying boxes for chickens.

“We are building some laying nest boxes to see how they go,” said Men’s Shed members Ron Wood and Barry Shepherd, above left.

The timber laying boxes are solidly constructed and will provide a functional and seriously comfy home for the egg producers – they will be laying in luxury.

The Narrabri Men’s Shed is a well- equipped facility in spacious accommodation in the former railway goods sheds, and has attracted retirees from across the community.

It is a place to simply drop in for a chat, have a cup of tea or coffee or embark on projects drawing on members’ wide and varied expertise gathered over their ‘formal’ working lives.

Anyone interested is welcome to drop in and meet some of the members, on any Monday, Wednesday or Friday morning.
