Workforce Road Services has been remarking roads across major roads in the western region of NSW this year.

In late April they began work in Narrabri, working from 6pm to 6am nightly, updating the existing linework on the Newell and Kamilaroi Highways from the edge of Narrabri West through to Baan Baa.

The nightwork project has been undertaken by a multicultural crew, who are excited by the chance to work in an area like the Narrabri Shire.

“Most of our team are from the city, so not all of us have been to Narrabri before,” crew member Slavjanka Naumovska explained.

“It’s very different from the city, so we were happy to explore the unique sites Narrabri has to offer, and socialise with the welcoming locals, while we’re here.”

The team, comprised of Musa Oza (Sudanese), Shavnil Nair (Fijian-Indian), Moses Fifita (Tongan) and Slavjanka (Macedonian), took a daytrip to popular tourist attraction Sawn Rocks.

“It was nice – we tried to go to Dripping Rock too, but the road was too wet sadly,” Slavjanka said.

Despite missing the opportunity to see another local landmark, the crew have loved their time in and around the Narrabri Shire.
