On Friday, June 4, the Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club hosted another high tea fundraiser to help save the much-loved establishment.

Tea and coffee were provided for the 120 guests, as well as slices, scones, sandwiches and other sweet treats made by the bowling club ladies.

Tim Wedesweiler, son of club member Lyn, entertained the crowd with interesting tales of his time travelling the world as an army serviceman.

The ladies ran two raffles, with one being drawn at the high tea event.

The lucky winners took home a range of gift packs, valuables and vouchers donated by generous local people and businesses.

The second raffle will continue until September, with tickets being sold at the bowling club and occasionally along the main street.

A beautiful hand-made quilt is the first prize for the ongoing raffle, with other great prizes for additional placegetters.

There were also small succulent arrangements in pots on each table, available for purchase to raise further funds.

Club president, Nola McNamara, said she was very impressed with the local support shown on the day.

“We’ve had another excellent turnout, and we hope to see these people again at our next fundraiser in three months’ time,” she said.

“We’re determined to keep the club going and, by supporting our high tea, we know everyone here is just as enthusiastic as we are about saving the establishment.”

“The people here today have the same hope we have that bowls will survive in Narrabri.”
