Parking spaces, or complaints about the lack of them, has been a perennial issue in Narrabri’s CBD.

In recent years public awareness campaigns and the introduction of parking inspectors, one shared with Moree and Gunnedah councils, have all played out.

The imposition of charges to cover parking spaces for new businesses was met with an angry response.

All this is in the context of an ever busier main street with more cars seeking to share the same number of parking spaces.

Now the council has warned of a ‘parking enforcement blitz’ in response to increased complaints.

CBD businesses have been circularised advising that the council’s Regulatory Enforcement Team will be patrolling the area.

“Failure to adhere to the signposted regulations may result in penalty infringement notices,” the council notice said.

“Business owners in the Narrabri CBD are not exempt from parking regulations.”
