Police are investigating a break-and-enter at a Wee Waa Road business in Narrabri.

The incident occurred between 1.20am and 1.30am last Wednesday, June 23.

An unknown man, wearing dark clothes, gained entry to the business and rifled through tool boxes.

Items were stolen from the business.

Forensic investigation has been conducted.

P-plater caught drink-driving

A P-plate driver was caught drink-driving on June 20.

Police observed a 19-year-old man driving a black ute on Collins Street.

He was stopped by police on Kate Street, breath tested and returned a reading a .057.

P-plate drivers are required to have a blood alcohol reading of zero.

Selina Street car theft

In the early hours of Friday, June 18, a car parked in Selina Street was stolen.

Following the vehicle’s theft, the driver collided with a medium-sized tree.

The vehicle was damaged and taken back to Narrabri Police Station for forensic analysis.

Police canvassed the neighbourhood and are awaiting forensic results.

Police are following a number of leads into the incident.

Two arrested at railway station

A covert police operation was undertaken at the Narrabri Railway Station on June 16 to arrest a woman who had breached her bail.

Police received a report of a woman from Sydney travelling on a train to the town.

The 18-year-old woman was to be met at the Narrabri station by a man who had outstanding warrants.

Police attended the station at 4.50pm and covertly identified the man.

They awaited the woman to disembark the train.
The woman was arrested for breach of bail.

Bail was initially refused, however, she has since been released on bail.

The 22-year-old man was charged with two outstanding warrants – affray to fail to appear.

He was taken back to court in Newcastle.

Narrabri sector officer-in-charge, Inspector Robert Dunn, praised officers’ work in the operation.

He said plain clothed police officers worked well with other agencies.

Fall in property crime

Insp Dunn has reported a considerable drop in property crime in Narrabri in the previous two months.

Wee Waa has also seen a drop in property crime following the arrest of alleged offenders in the town.
