‘Super Saturday’ is a term often applied these days to a range of major events. Narrabri’s Super Saturday may be the coincidence of council elections and the gala Narrabri Chamber of Commerce business awards night, both on Saturday, September 4. In the US Super Saturday is a key day in the presidential election cycle. In Australia and elsewhere it’s a major day of auctions and a big pre-Christmas retail sales day and, in 2018 five Australian federal by-elections on the one day was labelled Super Saturday. But perhaps the most anticipated Super Saturday was in the UK to mark the date of the re-opening of pubs when COVID restrictions were relaxed.
