At the Boggabri Lions Club annual general meeting, Craig Devine was installed as 2021/22 president by district governor Jennifer Bower.

The new board consists of president Craig Devine, incoming president Joanna Gillham, past president Richard Gillham, secretary Tim Wannan, treasurer Ben Bomford, Lion tamer Ron Boxsell, Lion tail twister Roger Hollingworth, membership chairman Geoff Eather, members Wesley Watson and Justin Grover.

Outgoing president Richard Gillham submitted a comprehensive report on the club activities.

In his report he said: “In my two years as president, we have had the worst drought in recent history with our club supplying and delivering hampers to many local families.

“Then we saw the rain and we had a couple of small floods, and now hopefully the back end of the mouse plague and then COVID-19 which last year stopped us meeting as a club for about six months.

“We have started cooking barbecues again, and this has proven to be very successful with teams of cooks getting out of bed at 2am to have up to 250 bacon and egg rolls cooked and delivered on mine site by 5.45am,” he said.

“A special thanks to all involved.”

“This has meant that money is still flowing, not only to Boggabri Lions Club but also carrying on to other groups in our community.

“These being Boggabri Hospital, Boggabri Public School, Sacred Heart School, Boggabri Pre-school, Boggabri Business Promotions and the new Nurruby Boggabri Early Learning Facility.”

“Congratulations to Craig Devine on being awarded Lion of the Year 2020/21. He is a very worthy recipient of this award.”
