Modernised, renovated and re-designed facilities are ahead for Club Narrabri members.

Club Narrabri’s board has embarked on a staged, major upgrade of the RSL and Golf Club venues to prepare to meet the demands of a new era and a growing community.

The RSL Club and Golf Club are the recreational hubs for a large swathe of the district community.

The COVID pandemic has caused readjustments in the number of patrons, in line with public health requirements, but the RSL Club now has 5000 members.

The golf club is attracting a steady flow of new social and golfing members.

Big plans are afoot for the two venues and work has already started at the RSL Club.

“The program of staged works for the two venues represents a significant investment,” said Club Narrabri CEO Paul Gordon.

“But the Club Narrabri board is confident in the future of Narrabri district and is planning to provide great facilities to meet the community’s needs for decades to come.”

Club Narrabri is looking towards a post-COVID future, with local growth underwritten by several years of buoyant agricultural prospects ahead, the emerging energy industries and anticipated industrial and commercial developments.

The facilities upgrade at the RSL Club will be the first since 2013 when the gaming lounge was renovated.

Work has already started on the first stage of the program which will ultimately see a completely refurbished lounge and legends bar including new décor, carpeting and furniture.

The Club Narrabri board is investing in the future.

“The first stage is to renovate the bathrooms at the RSL Club including a new disabled toilet and a mothers’ room,” said Mr Gordon.

“We will renovate the men’s and women’s bathrooms as well as the amenities off the auditorium, adjacent to the stage.

“Then we will refurbish the legends bar and the main lounge.

“Early work has included removal of an obsolete air conditioning plant installed in 1971 and other redundant equipment in the ceiling space.

“Going forward at the golf club we plan to build new disabled bathroom facilities, a new kitchen and functions room.

“The pro shop will be relocated, and we will build a function room with a 270 degree view of the course.

“The room will be multi-purpose for weddings, conferences and dinners.”

The Golf Club has already undergone major recent work with a new bar, refurbished lounge and extended outdoor seating and children’s play area.

Club Narrabri anticipates continued growth in membership and patronage with an ongoing upgrade program.
