We all understand the importance of restrictions in place during these tough times.

However, some of the rules don’t really make sense for people in our area.

We are not allowed to grocery shop outside the Walgett Shire, however, Walgett has cases of COVID, Narrabri doesn’t – I would have thought Narrabri would be safer.

We are able to travel out of the shire for medical reasons, fortunately, so I guess we’d be able to grocery shop then if we have proof of the medical visit.

It’s not only grocery shopping that is affected by the rules – we can’t go to Narrabri for machinery parts or have work done on vehicles.

If you live in Sydney or surrounds, there are many options for grocery shopping within the five kilometre limit, but not in Rowena or anywhere else in the Walgett Shire and lots of other rural shires.

Isolation isn’t a problem out here as we live in an isolated area and have often been completely isolated for weeks at a time during floods.
