NSW Police has said it is satisfied that all close and casual contacts at the worksite of a positive COVID case in Narrabri have been identified.

It was reported on Wednesday evening that a person had returned a positive result to the virus. A subsequent test confirmed this result and was announced on Thursday.

In a statement, NSW Police confirmed that the patient, who is no longer in the shire, was working on a construction site which has been closed down.

The construction site was subject to deep cleaning and remains closed until all employees of the location return a negative result.

“In working with the company, we are satisfied that all close and casual contacts have been identified, who have all undergone COVID testing, and there is no requirement to place it as a venue of concern due to no person being outstanding,” the statement read.

“Police remain in contact with ‘close contacts’ to ensure compliance with the Public Health Order.”

NSW Police said it is also understood the patient may have entered a local retail store whilst infectious, however, review of CCTV to date has not confirmed this.

“None the less, that premises has undergone a deep clean and we continue to monitor the situation,” NSW Police said.

“Due to the above, residents will note the absence of the publication of ‘venues of concern’.

“Rest assured, at present there has been a significant investigation conducted by NSW Health along with the NSWPF to track the movements of the patient and should any further information be forthcoming, the public will be notified immediately and effected persons will be contacted.

“In the interim, please remember Narrabri Shire remains subject to ‘stay at home’ provisions of the Public Health Order and residents (and visitors to the area) are reminded to comply with the requirements that were previously in place regarding the wearing of masks, stay at home unless you have a reasonable excuse, and QR check in.

“Should you experience the mildest of flu-like symptoms, or suffer from shortness of breath, get tested immediately.”
