The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked to Wee Waa and Boggabri on separate missions over the weekend.

At 8.35pm on Sunday, the service carried out an urgent medical retrieval from Wee Waa Hospital.

The helicopter critical care medical team stabilised the seven-month-old baby boy suffering a serious medical condition prior to airlifting him to Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital in a stable condition for further specialist medical treatment.

His mother also travelled on board the helicopter.

Earlier on Sunday, a rescue helicopter was tasked to Boggabri just before 5pm following a report that a man had been injured while using a circular saw.

NSW Ambulance paramedics and the helicopter critical care medical team treated and stabilised the 55-year-old man who suffered severed fingers while using a circular saw and was initially transported to Boggabri Hospital.

The man was airlifted to Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment.
