The 70th anniversary of the National Servicemen’s Association of Australia (Nashos) which was to have been celebrated in Moree at the end of October has been rescheduled until March next year. The organisers anticipate the anniversary celebration will be attended by several hundred former Nashos and others. There were 287,000 young Australian men who were called up for national service between 1951, the start of the Korean War, and 1972 , the end of Vietnam War. This year is an anniversary year for conscription in Australia, marking 70 years since the third and 110 years since its first National Service schemes. Moree RSL Sub-branch is hosting the anniversary commemoration, alongside the reunion. A special guest will be singer Normie Rowe, a former Nasho.
