Boggabri and District Rugby League Football Club hosted its annual general meeting at Jubilee Oval yesterday where Greg Haire was re-elected as the club’s president to lead a 27-strong committee into next year.

The committee for the 2022 season is as follows – president – Greg Haire, vice-president – Matt Avendano, junior vice-president – Matt Gillham, secretary – Molly Dawson, treasurer – Geoff Hobden, publicity officer/club photographer – Sue Haire, publicity officers – Courtney Lennox and Caitlyn Dewar, committee members – Robert Tumbers, Julie Gillham, Don Madden, Shane Rampling, Paula Neader, Maria Eggleton, Cloe Davis, Warwick Chandler, Keith Grover, David Gillham, Jason Kemp, Ben Haire, Amy Stubbs, Aaron Hobden, Benny Burns, Michelle Burns, Bob Burns, Ashlee Haire and Jarod Adams.

Shane Rampling will coach the Kangaroos’ first grade side again in 2022.

After initially agreeing to a three-season stint with the club which ended at the conclusion of the 2021 campaign, he jumped at the chance to go around again.

“I said when I first took the job on I’d do three years and three years was this year,” he said.

“I was happy to go round again while I’m enjoying it and while they are happy with me.

“We’ll just keep doing what we are doing. We are improving each year and slowly but surely we are moving up the table.

“There’s a good feeling there.”

Rampling described the Boggabri club, its supporters and the entire community as ‘phenomenal’ and also praised the 27-strong committee.

“I’ve never seen anything like it wherever I’ve been, to be honest,” he said.

“We have that much support and we are the smallest club in the group.

“To have that many people on the committee is phenomenal.

“The best thing about Boggabri is they are passionate about their footy, and they want success, but they will always clap you off if you lose.

“The support is amazing and I’ll give everything to bring a bit of success there.”

Rampling said that he expected the Kangaroos’ first grade side to look similar again in 2022, with most players re-committing for next year.

Pre-season training will begin in December and will continue in January after a Christmas/New Years break.

Meanwhile, the Kangaroos will officially farewell the 2021 season on Saturday, November 20, when they host their presentation awards event at the Boggabri Golf Club.
