The stormy weather saw a band of visitors make a pitstop at Narrabri Airport.
A group of four people, who touched down on the tarmac on Friday, were transporting a water bomber from Queensland to Scone, in readiness for the impending bushfire season.
The bad weather forced them to make an early landing in Narrabri while they waited for the storms to pass.
It’s believed the Boeing 234 has the capability to drop about 10,000 litres of water, when working to combat bushfires.
The aircraft is the civilian version of the US Army’s CH-47 “Chinook”.
“It’s a good machine to fly,” said pilot Miles Charlier.
The visitors – who are all double vaccinated – made the most of their ‘flying’ visit, experiencing Narrabri’s friendly hospitality.
