Wee Waa Golf Club members were advised ‘to pack their flippers’ and ‘travel by submarine’ if they wanted to try to tee off at ‘Royal Wee Waa’ on the weekend, in an entertaining yet informative social media post.

Golf Club member Rob Downey said play was not surprisingly cancelled due to the weather conditions and floodwaters.

“We could’ve played three lots of sixes but the water in the gully near the club house, measuring 0.8 of a metre, prevented play.

“It was the worse luck because I’ve got a new driver I wanted to try out,” said Mr Downey.

In a more serious tone, Mr Downey added the community was working together to ensure all residents felt safe and had access to supplies and information while Wee Waa was isolated.

“I’d like to think we’d be back playing Sunday, but we’ll have to wait and see.”
