The makeup of the new Narrabri Shire Council is likely to consist of many new faces after votes from polling centres were counted in the local government elections at the weekend.
Results from ballot papers cast at pre-poll centres started to appear on the Electoral Commission of NSW website on Monday afternoon.
From the total 5353 formal votes counted as at Monday afternoon, Group A had achieved 1238 first preference votes while Group B had 444.
The progressive quota at the time of The Courier going to press moments ago, of 536 first preference votes, would see Group A secure two positions. The group’s first and second candidates are Greg Lamont and Robert Browning.
Among the ungrouped candidates, current mayor Ron Campbell leads the list of 13 individuals, recording 983 first preference votes. Darrell Tiemens follows on 456 votes, Lisa Richardson 347, John Clements 334, Cathy Redding 299 votes, Brett Dickinson 257 votes, Ronald (John) Tully 203 votes, Cameron Staines 190 votes, Ron Campey 143 votes, Les Knox 137 votes, Lloyd Finlay 126 votes, Maryanne McDonald 106 votes and Crystal Dwyer 90 votes. The election of Group B and individual candidates who don’t achieve the quota could depend on the distribution of preferences.
