Local pastor Keith Bates has published his first book, titled “Heaven On Earth.”
The book is a verse by verse (sentence by sentence) commentary on St Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians, one of the shorter books in the New Testament.
Pastor Bates describes the book as a labour of love.
“I wanted to study Ephesians because I am convinced that it contains a message that the church needs to understand as we move forward in the 21st century.
“Ephesians is first of all a ‘big picture’ description of God’s plan for the followers of Jesus, which then leads into instructions for how Christians should live.
Paul says that we were once far away from God, but in Christ we are now God’s masterpiece.”
“Heaven On Earth” took over three years to write.
It started life as a series of short articles.
It was only towards the end of the project that Pastor Bates considered turning it into the form of a book and publishing it.
This book is intended to be a help for people who want to better understand this part of the Bible.
Each chapter concludes with a helpful “Key points in this verse” summary of implications for the believer’s life and faith.
Readers will find it helpful to have on their shelf as a reference, or as a guide in daily devotional reading.
There will be an official launch of “Heaven On Earth” at New Life Christian Fellowship, 4A Mooloobar St at 11 am on December 11.
Everyone is welcome to attend the event.
It is available in printed form and digital download (Kindle) from Amazon.
