Gunnedah Greyhound Racing Club was a happy hunting ground once again for Bellata greyhound Lagoon Dark Eyes on Thursday.
The Kevin Campbell-trained dog raced as a two-year-old for the first time when he lined up in the 10th race of the evening, a 431-metre no grade race which was an Armidale Cup heat.
He jumped from box seven for the first time and led the pack by the halfway mark.
He then charged home to his seventh consecutive victory as he outran the Allan Syphers-trained Murphey (box six), which placed second, by three-quarters of a length.
Lagoon Dark Eyes earned $2200 for that victory to take his career earnings to $10,520.
He has now raced nine times at Gunnedah where he placed twice in his first two attempts before winning all of his past seven starts.
He will return to that same venue on Thursday where he will compete in the Armidale Cup final. He has been drawn to start from box seven again in that race.
Meanwhile, Wee Waa trainer Colin Anderson oversaw two of his greyhounds race to top-three finishes on Thursday afternoon.
She’s A Thief placed third after jumping from box five in a 340-metre grade five race, which was the second on the 12-race program.
Fire Fly Angel jumped from the one box in the following race, which was a 340-metre grade four/five race, and charged home to a two-length victory.
Another Wee Waa dog was in action in the seventh race, which saw Lagoon Lockdown place third in an Armidale Cup heat for Timothy Anderson and just miss out on final qualification.
