The Pink Up Namoi campaign is nearing its finale with the arrival of calendars to continue its fundraising success. Men from various parts of the Narrabri Shire community embraced ‘pink power’ and feature in the calendar which raises awareness about men’s breast cancer.
The sale of the calendars follows the campaign’s recent milestone in surpassing $100,000 raised.
Featured in the calendar are the Rotary Club of Narrabri, Wee Waa Fishing Club, Narrabri VRA, Santos, local police, Narrabri Four Wheel Drive Centre, the Narrabri Eagles AFL club, Narrabri Shire Council, Narrabri Fire and Rescue, Narrabri SES, Narrabri and District Cricket Association and Narrabri Chamber of Commerce.
The images inside the calendar were captured by local photographer Robert Dunn, with the calendar designed by Darrell Tiemens, of Tiemens Creative. Pink Up Namoi organiser Karen Kirkby was overwhelmed by the shire’s response to the entire campaign.
Dr Kirkby set a fundraising goal of $25,000 to go to the McGrath Foundation for its breast care nurse program.
A street dinner party, online toolbox raffle, pink champagne breakfast, pink pooch event, sponsorship, community fundraising as well as events in Boggabri and Baan Baa have helped Dr Kirkby to achieve her goal four times over. Dr Kirkby praised the shire community for its support.
The calendars cost $29 and are available from MJ’s Newsagency, Wee Waa Newsagency, The Courier, Tiemens Creative, Lisa Dee’s Boutique, Narrabri Visitor Information Centre, the Australian Cotton Research Institute, Narrabri High School and at the Christmas Pop Up Shop on Thursday and Saturday.
