On behalf of the “Back to Basics” team who stood for election to Narrabri Shire Council recently (Greg Lamont, Robert Browning, Bill Phillips, John Carrigan and Carol Armstrong), we would like to thank the community for its support and confidence in giving us their vote.

Obviously, this “Back to Basics” theme based on the platforms of ‘tell the truth, be transparent and pursue efficiency’ when elected, resonated with the community, as reflected in our ‘topping of the poll’ result.

The high vote also indicated to us that the community felt it is time for a change and with the nine councillors elected, the majority being newcomers to council, this change will occur in a collegiate, transparent and timely manner for the benefit of the whole of the Narrabri Shire as the Local Government Act requires.

In closing, may we extend a thank you to all candidates who had the commitment to stand for their local council, congratulations to those elected and commiserations for those who didn’t make it, plus acknowledge all the researchers, supporters and helpers behind the scenes, to the local press at Narrabri Courier, to Russell Stewart and the Narrabri Chamber of Commerce for their ‘Meet the Candidates“ evening initiative and to all of you, the public, for turning out to vote in difficult circumstances.

It is now up to the new council to make the change needed!

We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Greg Lamont, on behalf of the ‘Back to Basics’ team Narrabri
