The Boggabri Rural Fire Service brigade has taken delivery of a new firefighting unit.

Keys to the $370,000 category one tanker were handed to the brigade’s deputy captain, Keith Grover, at a handover ceremony at the service’s Narrabri Fire Control Centre on Thursday evening.

The new vehicle delivery was among $1.7 million worth of vehicles and a new station celebrated across North West brigades late last week.
The Boggabri brigade, which boasts more than 20 active volunteers, replaces an older vehicle with the modern model.

NSW RFS Assistant Commissioner Paul Seager attended last week’s handover ceremony.

“This vehicle will enable the brigade to strengthen its firefighting efforts across its community,” Asst Comm Seager said.

NSW RFS Chief Superintendent Heath Stimson, who attended other RFS celebrations later in the week, was pleased with the investment in the service’s Namoi/Gwydir operations.

“Ensuring our men and women in the NSW RFS have the most modern equipment and resources to protect their local communities has been and will remain, a key priority,” he said.

Asst Comm Seager was joined by Narrabri Shire Council mayor Ron Campbell and local Namoi/Gwydir team leader Superintendent Michael Brooks for the special occasion.
