Why do vandals think they need to damage or deface street signs in Narrabri?

On Wednesday afternoon, April 13, at about 4pm, I followed from Francis Street, a very wide eight-metre load carrying a dump truck heading south, with a triple police escort out front and two rear support escort vehicles with all lights ablaze, blocking traffic as it proceeded.

Without the blink of an eye, every sign post within the path of the wide load was wiped out by the overhanging equipment, even tearing off the safety flags attached to the load near The Crossing Theatre.

Just wondering, who pays for the damage – the ratepayers or the taxpayer?

Russell Bailey, Narrabri
