The recent floods in Queensland have caused widespread heartache for produce growers. Lettuce farmers have been particularly devastated, with ABC News reporting that some growers had lost their third crop in a row. In various parts of the country, lettuce is being stripped from supermarket shelves as a result of the growing shortage. Some grocers have reportedly sold whole iceberg lettuces for as much as $12. Australians have been warned to brace for rising costs in fresh produce.
