Judith Durham, the lead singer of The Seekers, will be honoured with a state funeral following her death on Friday at the age of 79. Victorian premier Daniel Andrews said he offered the state service and her family accepted ‘to honour the life and contribution of a true icon of Australian music’. Judith passed away after a long battle with chronic lung disease. She sang with The Seekers between 1963 and 1968 plus some reunion concerts and recordings. Judith gained international fame with hits like Georgy Girl, I’ll Never Find Another You, A World Of Our Own, Morningtown Ride, I Am Australian and The Carnival Is Over. In 1967, The Seekers were named joint Australians of the Year.
