A Kaputar Road resident has voiced concern with the formation of a gravel bank, as well as erosion, along Bullawa Creek.
Bill Singleton, whose property straddles the creek, has previously raised the issue of fallen trees and feared the debris would wreak havoc with the creek’s flow.
These previous concerns, which were published in The Courier at the time, have since been dealt with, however, a new problem has emerged in Bullawa Creek.
“A gravel bank has formed in the last few months,” Mr Singleton told The Courier while showing the newspaper the new creek issues.
“The gravel bank has raised. If it doesn’t rain, it’s not a problem.”
Mr Singleton is also worried about erosion along the creek.
While he has contacted relevant agencies in relation to these issues and has been assured they will be addressed at some point, Mr Singleton stressed the importance of fixing the issues before they begin to worsen.
The gravel bank which has formed along the creek is pushing water behind trees and towards Mr Singleton’s fence line.
Mr Singleton has suggested an urgent remedy to the situation by eliminating the gravel bank.
“It’s making a new creek track,” he said.
Among his concerns is also the risk of trees collapsing along areas of erosion and creating blockages along Bullawa Creek.
“It will create a domino effect,” he said.
Every month that the issues aren’t addressed, Mr Singleton said the job of fixing them becomes bigger.
