Thumbs up to our planners. The unprecedented, huge recent floods in northern NSW are a reminder that Narrabri and the north west may not be immune from a ‘big one’ like 1955, 1971 and other historic events. A lesson from the northern floods has been that flood warning and some rescue mechanisms needed upgrading. We are well served by our excellent emergency services in Narrabri shire, but it’s always reassuring to re-check systems in readiness for who knows what level of next month’s, next Christmas or whenever the flood comes.
