Narrabri Lions Auxiliary president Sheryl Barnes was delighted to make a delivery of handmade ‘Cuddle Buddies’ last week to the Narrabri District Hospital and the Narrabri Police Station for children who may have been involved in a vehicle accident, may be unwell, traumatised, or simply missing home.

The concept was thought of more than 20 years ago and has been gladly welcomed by local establishments across the district and provided comfort for children at a time of need.

This year the Cuddle Buddies have been handcrafted by Jenny Campbell, the wife of Narrabri Lion Ross Campbell, and Lions Auxiliary member Helen Stoltenberg.

They will also be delivered to the Narrabri Crisis Centre, the Narrabri Ambulance Service and to Wee Waa District Hospital.

In addition to the Cuddle Buddies project, the Lions Auxiliary deliver ‘Emergency Hospital Bags’ to emergency departments throughout the shire.

The bags contain items that inpatients may not have had time to pack themselves when leaving home.
