The agricultural contributions of prominent local farmer James Kahl, of Wee Waa, have been honoured in NSW Parliament.
Mr Kahl recently stepped down as chair of Cotton Seed Distributors Ltd after almost two decades of involvement with the group.
He served as chair for 13 years of his 19 years on the CSD board, and was only the fourth chair of CSD in 55 years.
State Member for Barwon Roy Butler told parliamentarians that throughout Mr Kahl’s term at CSD, his enthusiasm and interest in the company’s success was evident, showing an interest in all aspects of the business.
“James ensured the future of the Australian cotton seed supply was secure through the development of new facilities near Wee Waa which included a cotton seed processing plant fitted with world-leading de-linting and treating technology, a laboratory, administration building and expanded seed storage facilities,” Mr Butler said.
“Financially, James’ success at CSD was evident in the growth of its balance sheet, which went from $40 million to over $300 million.
“I thank James for his contribution to CSD and the lasting legacy he has left behind.”
