As the saying goes, ‘if you want something done, ask a busy person’.
Jamie Ryan is busy and is getting busier. He launched Jamo’s Handyman Services in November 2019 and hasn’t stopped.
Jamo’s Handyman Services is in demand – it is a valued local and district service and Jamie has been recognised and applauded as winner of the 2022 Whitehaven-Narrabri Chamber of Commerce New Business Award.
Jamie Ryan is a familiar figure in the community. Previously he worked at AGT Foods as quality assurance manager but the long drought-driven downturn changed his career direction.
He explored other options.
“I always wanted to be a builder or cabinet maker so decided to continue to follow that path and use that interest and skills with the handyman role which now covers many tasks.
“I began with repairs, and then was asked to do some gardening maintenance while someone was on holidays and I have continued on with that work at Nandebri Home Nursing for three years.”
Over the years Jamie’s services have been in big demand and nowadays his portfolio of clients extends from homeowners to corporate and business clients of all sizes, local organisations, government agencies and schools.
“We undertake property maintenance for several real estate agents in Narrabri including the majority of Summit’s repair and cleaning requirements.
“We have many lawn maintenance and garden work clients including businesses and local agencies, teacher housing, police station maintenance across Narrabri and Wee Waa and the region.
“Basically, anything I can turn my hand to I will – a Jack of All Trades. We aim to be a one-stop home maintenance shop. If people ask me ‘what you do?’ I say ‘tell me what you want me to do’ and I can tell them – but just about anything, really.”
Jamie is accredited with all the necessary insurances and permits for his role.
He has employed several people in the past and is looking, always, for others to join the team.
“My wife Danielle is a major part of the business, carrying out the all important paper work and administration,” Jamie said.
“She gives me my inspiration and organisation – Danielle is the glue that keeps everything together and running smoothly.”
If you have any work for Jamo’s Handyman Services give him a call.
“I will certainly put it on my list and get to it as soon as I possibly can,” said Jamie.
