Cecile is Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club’s minor singles champion for 2022.
On Thursday, September 29, Cecile defeated Heather Caton 25-23 in a close game that was played across 30 ends.
Cecile got off to a great start and led 22-12 after 21 ends, and from that point, she only needed three more shots to win the game.
Caton wasn’t finished though. She scored eight shots to two across the next five ends to narrow the margin to 24-18.
Caton went on to score five shots during the next three ends to reduce the deficit to just one point.
There were a lot of great bowls played on the last end, and it was Cecile who managed to score the one shot required to win the game 25-23.
In consistency singles semi-finals, Cindy Neil defeated Ronnie Dewar 150-97 and Debbie Gleeson defeated Lorraine Scott 153-147.
Scott and Gleeson were tied 35-all after eight ends, and 45-all after 10 ends. Gleeson then scored 30 shots to 10 across the next four ends to lead 75-55.
By the 28th end, the score was very close with Gleeson leading 137-133, and at the 30th end, Scott led 146-144.
Gleeson then scored nine shots to one on the 31st end to win the game.
The final between Gleeson and Neil will be played this morning, with Ronnie Dewar the marker.
The first game of president pairs will also be played today. Berice Eather and Lyn Tuckey will take on Carol Demamiel and Lyn Wedesweiler in that match.
Meanwhile, social bowls was played last Thursday. In a game of three-bowl triples, Janice Foxe, Sue Solomon, Eva Sadler defeated Rhonda Fitzgerald, Dawn Armstrong, Kay Carolan 13-12. In a game of pairs, Glennis Godden and Di Chessells downed Yvonne Hardman and Marie Redman 18-10.
