The march of ‘progress’ continues. Country town bank closures are happening with alarming regularity nowadays – who is next? Westpac has announced its Moree branch will close in February next year. Moree mayor Mark Johnson is leading a fightback to have the decision repealed. Westpac, formerly Bank of NSW, has had a presence in Moree since 1876. Narrabri and Inverell are evidently the closest Westpac branches for Moree customers.
