A 38-year-old man attended an address in Mooloobar Street at 6am on October 5 and stole a motor vehicle.
Police allege the man brought a battery and a jerry can of fuel with him.
The man forced entry into the vehicle and then forced the ignition component open, and used a device to start the vehicle.
He was observed by witnesses later breaking down in Deran Street.
The witnesses contacted police and approached the man.
When officers arrived at the scene, the man fled, and a foot chase and search of the immediate area ensued. The man was located in the backyard of a nearby home.
He was conveyed to Narrabri Police Station and charged with steal motor vehicle, three counts of enter closed lands without a lawful excuse and licence expired by two years or more.
Bail was refused and the man was due to appear in Narrabri Local Court on Tuesday, October 25.
Police have expressed their appreciation for the assistance provided by witnesses.
Police allege charity fundraiser used cash to pay for goods, services
A Tamworth woman was arrested after being discovered selling raffle tickets in Maitland Street and later paying for goods and services using large amounts of coins and notes.
The woman, who was visiting Narrabri to conduct fundraising on September 27, initially attempted to pay for local accommodation using coins and notes.
She later attempted to purchase goods from local businesses in the same manner, police allege.
After these incidents, police spoke to the woman and cautioned her.
Police received further phone calls about the woman’s fundraising activity, and she was observed selling more raffle tickets.
Police conducted checks into the charity the woman said she was raising funds for and could not find any information.
The 53-year-old woman was charged with conducting fundraising activity without authority.
She will appear in Narrabri Local Court on November 29.
Police have reminded the public that fundraisers are required to display an authority to fundraise or be able to present it on request.
Man arrested for damaging Wee Waa premises
A 32-year-old Queensland man was arrested for damage caused to premises in Wee Waa in the early hours of October 15.
Police allege the man walked along Rose Street and smashed the door of a local supermarket.
Similarly, he also caused damage at the front of a local hardware store.
The man was located in Charles Street and conveyed to Wee Waa Police Station.
He was charged with two counts of malicious damage.
The man will appear in Wee Waa Local Court on October 27.
Forensics link Wee Waa youth to break and enter
A Wee Waa youth has been linked to a break and enter after forensic analysis.
The 13-year-old boy is alleged to have broken into a Purcell Avenue home on May 23.
The boy forced entry through a rear wooden door and stole an amount of cash as well as an iPad.
The victim returned home and heard noise inside.
After the victim called out, the boy quickly fled the home and was seen jumping a fence.
Police attended the home, which was subject to forensic examination.
Following the identification of the boy, he was recently arrested and charged with aggressive break and enter in company.
Drink driving detection in Narrabri
A 34-year-old man was stopped in Dangar Street at 9.20pm on September 1.
The man returned a blood alcohol reading of .122.
Drug driving detection in Narrabri
On August 18, police stopped a 52-year-old man on Lloyd Street for the purpose of a random drug
test.
A positive detection was recorded. Subsequent analysis returned positive detections to methamphetamine and cannabis.
The man was charged with driving a vehicle with an illicit drug present in blood, second plus offence.
