January 10, 2023 marked the 99th year anniversary of Inner Wheel Clubs across the world.

The Narrabri and Wee Waa Inner Wheel club members celebrated the occasion together with an informal meeting and luncheon at the Marinda Café, Wee Waa.

Wee Waa Inner Wheel Club president Carol Miller welcomed the gathering and expressed her pride in belonging to an organisation which aims to promote true friendship, encourages the ideals of personal service, and fosters international understanding worldwide.

The date marks the day Inner Wheel’s mother club, the Inner Wheel Club of Manchester, England, first adopted the name Inner Wheel and is now formally referred to as Founders Day.

It also commemorates Inner Wheel International president Helena Foster’s call for all clubs to “link together in action” around the world.

The interaction of clubs from different countries worldwide strives to encourage continued understanding of adopted communities through online platforms.

Last year for the first 10 days of January, clubs around the world conducted a project called ‘Wheel Can Cerv’.

The Inner Wheel Club of Central Makati in the Philippines joined in partnership with CerviQ, a social enterprise that helps in answering the call of the World Health Organisation to eliminate cervical cancer globally, and the webinar, Wheel Can Cerv, was launched.

Mrs Foster has asked for Inner Wheel clubs worldwide to focus on the project for the entire month of January 2023.
