At the weekend’s Festival of Rugby in Narrabri the Santos CEO Kevin Gallagher noted that his company was an active sponsor of a range of sports. “We’re very proud to partner with various sporting clubs and codes, but what I’m even more proud of is the inroads we have made for women with these partnerships,” Mr Gallagher said in his welcome to the 4000-strong spectator crowd on Saturday. “While a different code, the Papua New Guinean national women’s rugby league team, the Santos PNG Orchids, finished as semi-finalists at the Rugby World Cup last year – a phenomenal result not seen before in PNG’s history. Supporting women’s sport is integral to inspiring a new generation of players and athletes.”
