Development plans have been lodged to construct a 64-place childcare facility in Wee Waa.

The state-of-the-art centre would be located at 54 Rose Street, near the Charles Street intersection.

Plans allow for the construction of a two-storey centre with parking for 16 vehicles.

The application follows an announcement last year that plans were being developed for such a facility in Wee Waa.

Developers estimate the facility would cater for 24 children from birth to two-years-old, 20 children aged two to three-years-old and
20 children aged three to five-years-old.

The proposed centre would open from 6.30am to 6pm on weekdays and would employ 12 staff.

Plans lodged for the facility also included management details for such a centre.

The inclusion of possible management plans was to enable a better understanding of the proposal and the way the facility could operate.

It is also hoped that employment prospects at the centre will be greater than the estimated 12 educators needed, once administration and cooking requirements are incorporated into such a facility.

Architectural plans show the facility would cater for younger ages at the ground floor level.

Outdoor play areas would feature at the rear of the site.

The upstairs area would include facilities for older ages as well as an outdoor play area.

The facility’s developer, Cedarock, said the centre would be a thriving educational destination ready for enrolment in 2024.

Cedarock acknowledged Wee Waa, and the wider region, for its role as Australia’s cotton capital.

“Our proposed early learning centre will serve the community as it flourishes from agriculture, industrial activities, newly proposed renewable energy farms and the provision of a new educational precinct that encourages migration to the region,” the company said in a statement.

The company noted the Special Activation Precinct announced for Narrabri as well as benefits from the Inland Rail project.

“One of our major commitments to the New England region is to invest $100 million into regional community development in NSW by 2030.

“It is the first of four new early learning centres proposed by Cedarock in the New England region.”

Cedarock will seek an operator to lease the facility if approved and constructed.
